Famine hits South Sudan; 3 other nations threatened – urgent funds needed
By the time a country declares famine, it's too late: people are already dying of hunger. In an unprecedented betrayal of our common humanity, not only have we allowed famine to strike parts of South Sudan, we are watching as it threatens parts of three other nations as well: Nigeria, Yemen, and Somalia. And the horrible drought plaguing Somalia is also devastating two neighboring countries, Kenya and Ethiopia, where help is urgently needed.
Millions of families are now at risk of starvation. And it doesn't stop there. Tens of millions more are in urgent need of food. We must act immediately to prevent famine's agonizing spread.
Oxfam has already been helping nearly two million people in the four hunger-ravaged countries, providing families with desperately needed food, clean drinking water, and sanitation. But we need to redouble those efforts, and we urgently need your support to help save lives. Please donate now.
