Haiti struggles after Hurricane Matthew: Help Needed
Hurricane Matthew, a category 4 storm, that left death and destruction across the Caribbean and beyond in October, 2016, has triggered an enormous emergency in Haiti. The hurricane hit just as farmers were getting ready to harvest their crops, damaging many of them, drowning animals, and destroying farms. Now 1.4 million people need humanitarian assistance.
More than 800,000 people are living with an extreme level of food insecurity and 750,000 people don’t have access to safe water, according to the UN.
Oxfam has been providing shelter, emergency food, clean water, and sanitation services to prevent and stop the spread of deadly, waterborne cholera. But there is a great deal more work that needs to be done. Donate now to help us meet the most critical needs.
