Tell OceanaGold: Drop your case against El Salvador

El Salvador and its people don't want a gold mine built in the northern region of Cabañas – it would destroy the Titihuapa and Lempa Rivers, which are major water sources for the entire country.

But OceanaGold, a mining company, doesn’t care – they're suing El Salvador for more than $300 million in an effort to force the government to allow them to build their mine.

El Salvador and its people have the right to decide whether or not they want this gold mine in their country – and their decision needs to be respected.

Stand with El Salvador. Add your name: Tell Oceana Gold to drop its suit against El Salvador.

Dear Mr. Wilkes, CEO of OceanaGold:

I'm writing to you out of concern for the communities of Cabañas and the people of El Salvador. I urge OceanaGold to immediately drop its lawsuit against the government of El Salvador. Please live up to your commitment to respect human rights and communities' right to free, prior, and informed consent. The people of El Salvador have spoken: they don't want you to build a gold mine in their country because it poses huge risks to lives, livelihoods, local water sources, and the environment. It's time for you to listen and respect their right to decide.
